Quantitative evaluation of cement paste carbonation using Raman spectroscopy

Abstract Carbonation induced corrosion is one of the major durability issues for reinforced concrete structures. To address this issue, it essential to understand underlying mechanism carbonation by detecting ingress CO 2 and depth quantitatively. This paper demonstrates potential Raman spectroscopy, as a powerful technique, implement quantification analysis cement paste carbonation. In present work, correlation between content 3 2? peak intensity was initially established using several standard specimens premixed with certain amount . The then used investigate in diffusion scenario, results show good agreement that obtained thermogravimetry measurements. Therefore, feasibility spectroscopy quantify degree can be demonstrated.
